- - - all year. Could you buy me one of these for, you know, end of the year? One of those nice pilots at Wiscasset Airport during every summer said he'd teach me how to fly it. You know, 10 lessons -- Quick and Easy ? That new kitchen you've been wanting? Maybe we can come up with an "arrangement."

Her answer: the only difference between men and boys are the price of their toys.

Where we're you at?

I had my 10 yrs in the Bone, sometimes I think I'd like a few more. But then I'm a little stiff rolling out of bed in the morning. My last flight was over 15 yrs ago.

I'll teach ya.
I see it was a Dyess AFB bird.

Bill: this was the Great State of Maine Air Show 2012(Brunswick, of course). I was on the Security Detail(volunteer), so got to see and capture all the display aircraft that came in on the day prior to the Open to Public days. Note that I nailed the bomber with its nose gear not quite on the pavement. The other Warbirds belong to Texas Flying Legends(Houston), whose summer home is at Wiscasset Airport.

Story(fact) was that when the bomber was was on its way in, the crew was told to go offshore and burn off considerable fuel; and so they did. Crew spotted a lobster boat, descended to a lower(??) altitude and leveled-off. Then the bird went full-power. It was said that the boat's skipper and stern-man were doubled-up in laughter. Of course, they knew where the a/c was headed.

We used to do that trick at night crossing I-40. One of our low level routes in AZ/NM crossed I-40 at a 90 degree angle near a truck stop. We would slow down to min Mach approaching I-40 and then go to full AB at 500ft AGL about 1 mile before we crossed and about 1 mile beside the truck stop.

We'd get a few people's attention listening in on the CB channel was hilarious. Sometimes we'd be talking to them before we got there. "What's your 20" "about 40 miles north, we'll be there in 4 minutes" "say again your where? This hwy runs east-west" "we'll be there in 2 minutes" "what?"

About that time we would light up the night sky in full AB and rattle a few windows. "See ya next time", after a while the locals would egg the other truckers on when they heard us on freq. heading their way.
