So I took my son to the Miami Heat game on Monday. They played the Phoenix Suns. I rarely go to live sports events though I like to kill a few hours watching sports on TV. I don't watch basketball but my son plays in high school so this was a treat for him. Anyway, I was struck by how disrespectful the stadium announcer was to the visiting team. I expect the fans to make some noise but I guess I thought the announcer might be above it. I am just talking about when the Suns scored, the announcer would say the name of the shooter in a low, barely intelligible voice like it was sh*t on his tongue. Is that really necessary?

There's no sportsmanship left in pro anything. It's all about the business. And this attitude is seeping into all other sports; college thru Peewee.
It's also pervasive in internet forums, emails, text, and tweets. Here it is because of the impersonal nature of the communications.

Yes, I felt manipulated (or at least that the intention was to manipulate). The game did not even feel real to me - it felt like I was watching Jai-Alai at the fronton. Never felt that way at a live baseball or football game though it has been years since I attended one.
