Hobbies/Activities other than flying.

My wife's philosophy is that if she isn't getting the hand, she's not playing loud enough. She can put an impressive amount of air into a trombone and convert it into near-biblical-disaster levels of sound.
My ability to play loud always peaked at the end of football season unsurprisingly.

FUNDAMENTAL THEOREM OF ROCK & ROLL:

I played tuba in high school for three years. Marching, concert and pep bands. I was first chair out of four tubas all three years. I played it because the school owned it and I couldn’t afford anything else.

I’m also a professional woodworker. Professional because I own a business license but I also make reproductions of period furniture.

I would love to play a musical instrument but …

When I was a child, my father got me piano lessons. My piano teacher ended up firing me. Later in life as I tried to learn guitar, I understood why.

Basically, aside from aviation-related stuff, my “hobbies” are activities. Tennis and a game that loosely resembles golf.

I hear you, brother. When I was a child, my parents told me a lie, that if you worked hard enough you could do anything. So I started trying things, and after a few months, they kept asking me if I wanted to quit, which seemed odd after telling me I could do anything. Turns out I was bad at almost everything but schoolwork, which is ultimately useful but not any fun. Think about it, if you're musically inclined and you stay with it, you can play in a band or orchestra, if you're a good athlete, you play on a team and people cheer for you, but when you're good at academics your reward is that you get assigned more and more difficult assignments, and you get to go home and struggle with them by yourself.

Q - What’s the difference between a drummer and a drum machine?

A - You only have to punch the tempo into the machine once.
Just told my drummer friend that joke and he gave me another one:

Q - "What do you call a drummer without a girlfriend?"

A - "Homeless"

LOL
