history question about KLN-89B

Was it a 'B' version?
I hope I am correct that -B was approach certified.

Thanks to both of you.
It was indeed a KLN89B, approach certified installation. AFaIK the 89 and 89B came on the market at the same time, one for VFR and one for IFR.

It replaced an Arnav R50 LORAN which could also be certified for IFR enroute and approaches but there weren't any LORAN approaches to fly that I could find.

Wouldn't that just have been regular RNAV approaches (to be flown with a DME/DME type system) ?

Nope. There were plans for actual LORAN approaches and AFaIK only one was ever implemented and that was just for a test.
