Anybody know of a source for historical US surface analysis charts? I'm thinking about a long cross-country in August from Fort Worth to Seattle, and would like to get a "general feel" of what weather along the route during that time frame has offered up in the past.

Only place I know of is the NCDC. http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/

However, I've only looked for historical text products from them. So you'll have to poke around to see if they save the chart images. I would bet that they are saved somewhere, you'll just have to figure out where. Those charts take up virtually no space. Today's chart is only 25kb.

I can't see NOAA deleting the images after each update.

@TangoWhiskey I'll shoot our local NWS office a tweet asking about your question. They are really good at answering back in a timely manner.

If I bring you a cooler, can you bring back some Pike's Place Ale?
