HIMS Flow

We have all heard of the lengthy and onerous task it is to get, for example, a DUI HIMS case through from start to finish, months and many headaches, but what is actually going on in the background. Packets gets sent in for scanning. Then what? Is the packet assigned to one reviewer or many? Would it be common for it to get escalated to the FAS and then back to AMCD and what does that signify? Just curious as to a peek behind the curtain.

Probably a lot of alcoholics submitting paperwork and not a lot of FAA employees there to process it.

In my experience, most DUI cases are handled by Dr. Nathan Teague. One reviewer. One opinion. The FAS doesn't look at it nor does Dr. David O'Brien. Teague is king and if he reads your documents incorrectly (and IMHO he does), you're screwed.

Welcome to the world of AAM-300. It sucks. It's easily the WORST office in the FAA and the least compliant with federal law. Call your senators and congressmen if you don't like it.
