HIMS Assessment Question

At the beginning of March I received a letter that an anonymous person made a report that I used drugs frequently and was mentally unstable. I had 48 hours to take a drug test, which I passed. I scheduled an appointment with A HIMS aviation Doctor. I sent a request for my medical report to be sent to him. The earliest I could get in was past the date required so i asked for a 60day extension. They gave me a 30 day extension. I will take the assessment within the required time but the Dr needs 2 weeks to complete the report. If I do not respond they will take legal action or deny my application?

I have no history of mental health issues and I believe this to be a personal attack from an ex SO.

Is the FAA flexible with the extension time? If the report is 2 weeks late will they immediately cancel my class 2 medical?

What should I expect from this HIMS evaluation?

The last one of these that I had to support, I asked the candidate, "was she hot?" and his reply was, "there are many fish in the sea"....ask the HIMS psychiatrist to write and hand you: "Airman evaluated on such and such a date, report will be about 20 days in the making, will transmit when ready"., and get that into FAA system- Faxed to 405-954-4040 with your Name and DOB and PI number on it; or get your HIMS AME to upload (he can only do this if he's also the AME of record). If it's not more than seven days overdue, you'll likely be okay.

I just HATE that the agency has no idea what it's like out here in the real world. A month ago I gave AAM 200 a hard time in public about how SLOW it is even to get the Federal medical record (even electornically) as a HIMS AME, necessary for any such eval, which retardes the avaiabilty of such evals....

I received one of those over a year ago. My mother in law made a false statement about me. This was 375 days ago and I am still waiting for a response from the FAA. I’m a 121 Pilot and unable to work and provide for my family. I hope that your situation isn’t as lengthy as mine to hear back. Good luck

2113430: If it's positive they issue an immediate denial, but it's not enough evidence to say there isn't a problem. but if it's positive, there DEFINTELY IS. So not what 's ambigious is whether or not you were referred for a HIMS AME's evaluation, or through him to the HIMs psychiatrist.

I have to opine a bit here- I think that the utter protection of the "whistleblower" is a bit excessive, but congress in it's might, decreed it so.

@bbchien Would a negative hair follicle drug test help bolster the claim of a false report? I understand that test is not in the normal repertoire of the FAA's testing protocol in HIMS cases but, being that it can show evidence of drug use in the past 2-3 months, could it help the AME make a case for a nefarious report against the pilot?

I can't come up with a better example of a totally broken system which needs IMMEDIATE fixing.
I know of a 121 Sr Captain in the same position.

Dave, CONGRESS enacted the whistleblower protection act. For Robin, sure it helps the psychiatrist, but this is not only about what's in your toxicology but also "what's in between your ears". This is a new DO nothing Congress that hasn't produced a thing since Jan 15th. They are not about to "improve" on this and every time they try it just seems to gets worse.

To the OP this is a "defense of your life". SPARE no expense nor care, on this reply.

Mine was false accusations related to alcohol and mental health. Both claims from the complaint letter were untrue and false. I even did a HIMS eval on my own accord and had that submitted everything to them, and still no answer.
