Hijack Safety Report

And that's why the TSA is pointless. Heck, a system where each pax over 15 was ISSUED a gun might work better than this TSA crap.

Just what we need -- Gunfight at the OK Corrall in an aluminum tube at 35000 feet. I'm with the British Airline Pilots Association on this one: "What we want is no guns in our aeroplane, not more guns."

In any event, this is becoming typical -- airplanes now fly with a couple of hundred Air Marshals -- 2-3 armed ones who work for the government, and the rest unarmed volunteer civilian auxiliary. And it's not the first time the rest of the passengers have killed an attempted hijacker. In fact, in some cases, after the event was controlled, the cabin crew and official guards have had to protect the hijacker from the rest of the passengers.

I wasn't serious about issuing guns. But I am serious the TSA is a massive waste.

I seem to remember a SouthWest (I think) flight where a mentally ill passenger started pulling on the over wing emergency exit during flight. He was subdued by fellow passengers and subsequently killed by the same pax. They were sitting on him and he asphyxiated. I think they diverted to Las Vegas.

Too bad nobody onboard (including the Flight Attendants) knew the guy was physically unable to open the door. Nobody could open that exit in flight. And even if he did (impossible) the plane would still fly and nobody would die...except maybe the gorilla who opened the exit after being sucked out.
