I'm looking at purchasing an aircraft with a TT autopilot. Has anyone used the SVS 0 mode and can comment on experience? From time-to-time I would like to disable altitude control but allow the AP to control heading. The SVS 0 mode seems to be about as close as I can get.

SVS 0 won’t do what you want. It is essentially altitude hold without specifying an altitude. If it is experimental, you can put in a switch that will disconnect the “pitch servo torque control” wire. That will do exactly what you want.

Not sure what you are trying to do but in SVS 0 mode you can adjust the climb rate up or down. I use SVS 0 mode when it is turbulent and adjust 100fpm up or down to get back to the altitude I want and then set back to 0fpm.
