Hhmmmm

I've seen this one listed over and over and over, probably at least for 6 months. Price never comes down. Who knows what he'll take, but he ain't getting $45,000 is my guess.

Susan Dusenbury, VAA Chapter 3 President, is restoring NC15128, an SR6, here in NC, and she IS making progress.

If you want to try to be inoculated against this disease (may not be successful!) you oughta give her a call...

I'm also chasing this aircraft

It is finished but the owner died and his widow is selling, but she's away.

And it is in Canada

Go for it Tom.

That aircraft is not a gull wing SR it is the early version hershey bar wing SR-6 and will never bring the price of the tapered wing (gull) that the later versions do.

Unless you are doing the restoration for reasons of your own, they are a huge money pit.

Overhauling that engine will be equal to buying a house.

But if you pay the bills I'll do it for you, but just you.. :)

Find a guy to build a folding-wing trailer and you can pull it home. Then you could put floats on it and take it camping in the islands, and then you could . . .
Too Far away, getting it home would be a logistics nightmare.

As my wife would say "Step away from the checkbook." :wink2:

I've noticed that one too......definitely been on the market a looooong time!

Tom, you're nuts. If you really wanted a project, you should have kept the F-24. None of the projects out there are going to be any better than what you had and you know it!

Not too often you come across even a project plane that was once owned by Wallace Beery. :wink2:

I didn't even know he was a pilot!

Would it really be less of a project than getting the Fairchild flying again?

Yes, but you get tired of whittling the same stick all the time.

It's time to stop, sharpen the knife, and look for a new stick.

So sad! I hope whoever gets it a repairs it as well as you restored it. That is/was a beautiful plane!

John

Several folks in the Fairchild Club are waiting for it to go up for auction.

we will see what happens.
