Hernia ??

[Hernia ?]

I have a left inguinal hernia. The report says "the hernia contains a large portion of small bowel within it" in one place and "loops of large bowel within it" in another part of the report.

I'm 79 still flying on a 3rd class. I see a surgeon today. How will this affect my medical?
How long will I be grounded for?

Tell your surgeon about it and let him/her know that you will need a medical release.

You are seeing a surgeon today, so I guess it is too late to find a surgeon who is a pilot or understands what a pilot needs to be able to fly.

We deal with pilots all the time at our office and do whatever is needed to keep them flying.

At 79, you are in a great place to only have a hernia that keeps you out of the air. You should be good to go.

I think I had to be off pain meds for 7 or 10 days.
