Help. I've emailed for a week with no reply. I recently got "shut down" with Flickr and my thousands of photos (and links) are turned off.

I pay them every year, and recently they said my "video was restricted and has been removed".

That was an iPhone video my cousin took, about 1 minute long, barely any sound, no music, of my "Bay Tour".

The definitions are:

Safety Level

•Safe - Content suitable for a global, public audience

•Moderate - If you're not sure whether your content is suitable for a global, public audience but you think that it doesn't need to be restricted per se, this category is for you

•Restricted - This is content you probably wouldn't show to your mum, and definitely shouldn't be seen by kids

The email:

Hello kimberlyanne546,

As per our Community Guidelines, “restricted” video
content is not allowed on Flickr . We’ve removed your
video.

If you continue to upload videos that contain
“restricted” content, we may take further action on your
account.

Regards,

Flickr Staff

I didn't do anything, and now my whole account is restricted, and people have to log on to view anything.

Kimberly, you should ask them specifically which video they are referring to, and what makes it restricted.

I certainly didn't see anything in this video to merit anything other than the "safe" category.

Are they not responding to you? Did you ask for a review? It is owned by Yahoo I think. I have been using them for years, but I have never had to call them.

I guess the rubber ducky could be considered a fetish....:yikes:

It said "your most recent upload of a video".

I haven't uploaded any video in what feels like years (except for that one).

So let's assume that is it. The only other video I can think of is of my boyfriend's fish tank when Flickr first intro'd video uploads a year or two ago and they limited them to 30 seconds.

I don't normally use Flickr for video, but I wanted to put this one there for some reason.

I pay Yahoo for my mail too (Yahoo plus).

No they have not responded, though, when I googled this another man reported it took 1-2 weeks for a reply and he had to go through all 40,000 of his photos and start "categorizing" each one as safe, moderate, or restricted - then they put him back to "safe" and let people see his stuff.

I have no idea what is going on.

My account has been reviewed as moderate. What does that mean?

Having a "moderate" flag on your account probably means that there are images in your photostream that should have been marked as moderate but weren't. Staff hear about this sort of thing when we receive a report that an image is not moderated properly according to the Content Filters.
Remind yourself of our Content Filters and Community Guidelines to see what's OK and what's not on Flickr, and moderate your content accordingly.
To moderate your content:
  1. Go to the Organizr
  2. Load all images (public, private, and friends/family) that need to be marked as Moderate.
  3. Click Permissions > Set safety filter to set them as Moderate.
If you have images that should be marked as Restricted, repeat steps 2 & 3 for those as well.
Please note: Private content needs to be moderated as well.
Once you've done done that - and not before - you can request a review.

I guess I will have to do that (follow those directions).

Some skydivers (years ago) had a party and they asked me to take pictures of the Jello Wrestling.

This might be related to that but still why did my darned video (Bay Tour) get called "restricted"????

If your account has been marked as "unsafe" or "restricted" that means there are images in your photostream that should have been marked as restricted but weren't. Staff hear about this sort of thing when we receive a report that an image is not moderated properly according to the Content Filters.

So I tried another email today and "it knows" I have an outstanding issue:

kimberlyanne546,

Just a quick email from Team Flickr to let you know that we've successfully received your recent Help by Email query and we hope to respond shortly.

We'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that one help case per issue is sufficient. If you have questions or have more info to share, please respond to the unique help case email address that will be included in the first response you receive from our Member Support team. This will ensure you get the best possible assistance.

Multiple cases for the same issue can cause confusion and lead to delays in getting a timely response.

I'm pretty sure it means it's too easy to hack, which it may have been.

I will change my password, which is linked to an OLD yahoo email address (not the one I pay for). I tried years ago to switch but Flickr told me I can't switch my primary email address EVER. They do email me at the new address but I have to log on with the old one which logs me out of my real email which is super annoying.

They wouldn't. They would upload a video to your account that is restricted, because they can't otherwise on their own.

Gosh, I am sooooo stupid. Thank you Sac, that makes way more sense.

Believe it or not I've never been hacked. This sucks since I don't think I have copies of all the photos on my hard drive. Flickr "owns me" at this point. And all my content.

Learned my lesson here people!!!

Perhaps tumblr or instagram might solve your problem? This seems to be flickr's way of asking to be put out of its misery. Or, if you want to roll your own, you can install gallery3 on your own website, available from godaddy for about 5/mo on your own domain for about $12 /yr.

Sorry...what happened to Flickr before and after yahoo is rather tragic.

Somehow my facebook account was hacked. FB actually caught it. It froze the account and sent me a message asking me if I had accessed FB from bangkok recently. I most certainly had not. Re-set password (and my email, bank, and other important passwords) and all has been good.

Did some digging (can't host this JPG on flickr since I'm restricted with no hot linking so I had to find a free site):

Strange, that happened to me too; a couple of weeks ago. They said mine was done somewhere in South America. I am not sure I buy it. Nothing was changed or touched on the account, that I could see.

I uploaded NO CONTENT between today and August 17.

Something (that spike) happened on August 21.

That email warning was sent to me on August 24.

No wonder. Thanks guys that could not have been about the Bay Tour (which was uploaded on June 29).

Just checked, it is still there. The Bay Tour. That was really upsetting for a moment, now I "get it". Darn it.

Password changed, lesson learned, now this weekend I have to "moderate" all my content since 2005. Argh.

4,890 photos. Darn you hackers.

Now I wonder how HORRIBLE the video was, and what it was about.

Hello. I agree with you this is major suckage. Not sure what to do. I guess I could "roll on my own". My boyfriend would love that. He loves programming (and I used to be a website editor myself / webmaster back in the HTML days).

I pay Flickr $25 / year. Would my own site be comparable in yearly cost?

Can I do the "flickr stuff" with this gallery software?

Things like:

Images are automatically changed into many sizes
Sharing an image URL into a forum only pulls up the image and doesn't link back to the site, username, set, etc (anon)
Full size images hosted, unlimited storage, forever
Public can download full size images for their own use without logging on.

(As you can see, I really do like Flickr).

Kimberly, maybe they have a way you can select a whole batch and mark them "safe" so you only have to do that 100 times instead of 4500 times.

No I think I only have to mark the jello ones etc as moderate. I don't have anything restricted. It also says private photos have to be marked / defined so I have to do that too.

I won't have to "take action" on each and every photo. Not even when I went on the 7 day cruise (lots of people in bathing suits). That is "safe" to them. It is only certain things that are moderate.

What is funny is Carnival Cruises have this "Hairy Chest Contest" where huge, hairy men (aka old and not in shape) compete. Hilarious that some of those photos on the trip are my most "popular" shots.

Old men in swim trunks!

Now I'm realizing if I was hacked they could have deleted stuff of mine. I wonder if they did. I am not sure how I will know with over 4,000 items

Yes, the organizer in Flickr is simple to use and has "batch operations."

Thanks.

you have had your dads flight up there for a while IIRC so it could not have been that. Yahoo and Aol are the big two I get hacked spam from on a regular basis. The fact that you had an old password makes the hacking very likely, especially since you had not used it for a while. Did you ever get to see the offending photo that they up loaded or did they just reclassify you video of you dads flight?

Just another reason that I do not participate in "social media"... When you volunteer to wrestle with pigs the onlookers can't tell the difference...
Anyway, just taking a break from welding worn chain guide rails on a corn head... Been at it since there was just a trace of light in the East... The glare and the heat got to me but I need (want) to get it done before it gets to 90 this morning cuz tomrrow morning I'm going to the airport and play 'pilot' - before it gets to 90...

I host my own, so that is no cost. If you go external the prices are all over the map. Gallery is free and open source.

Auto resize - yes
Image not link back - pretty sure that is the forum side
Full size, hosted unlimited, etc - up to how you host, but possible
Anonymous download - yes, but you can also set some albums to private and share with only certain people, which would require an account.
