Helicopter crashes after evading drone

The 2nd amendment is a right, not a privilege.

As much as I love everything north of the blue line, most New Yorkers lean towards some commie views.

You must not be from around here. I’m guessing a couple thousand miles away. Transplant. :) Definitely don’t know what you’re talking about regarding the views of those in the Adirondacks. It’s ok, though, James... we would all be flabbergasted if you actually had ANY knowledge about the stuff you rave about, so why start now? ;) And stating an uninformed opinion does not magically turn it into a fact.

I think the story is hokey...sounds like there was some hey watch this going on and they clipped something. Yeah...It was a drone...flown by Morgan Fairchild....yeah that's the ticket!

Folks up north are quite a bit different than the city socialist types, though North Creek is north of the blue line, I'd wager based on your opinions you must be a transplant from down south.

I think a means needs to be found to make more (and hopefully ALL) drone operators aware of the rules and safety issues. It will make a difference with some drone operators and not others, but the fact that there are people for whom education will do no good should not be used as a reason to neglect educating those whom it WILL help.

You’re 100% incorrect again. At least you’re consistent, flatlander. ;)

Hey, I was a transplant from somewhere that would makes the 46 look like a parking lot ;)

What the Adirondacks lack in elevation they more than make for in variety, solitude, history and lore. Can’t say that about your Ozarks. Ha. (I know you’re a Kommifornian.)

Hey, our foothills out here are 10,000 ft! :D

Where is the drone? have they found it and it's operator? Any drone parts at all? I would be very surprised if they found anything.

It's hard enough to find wrecked airplanes. I wouldn't put too much stock in not finding drone parts, especially when no one is claiming that the helicopter and the drone collided.

I regularly fly a drone (it satisfies my aviation fix when I’m not flying) and highly doubt this story. Sounds like the best excuse they had at the time for running into a tree. Reminds me of a time years ago I backed up into a car in the parking lot and told my parents someone hit it with a shopping cart.(I then realized they weren’t as stupid as I thought.)

I only have DJI drones now but had some other ones in the past . In my opinion all dealers should at least give the new drone buyers a intro or some sort of short lesson on what to do or not .. the current software gives a warning on start up about where exactly you are if you are close to an airfield among other things . when i was down in florida (tampa) there's a bestbuy really close to KTPA as of last year around summer i myself witnessed alot of customers asking about regulations an was amazed with the answers from the staff members my guess is they only try to sell the 1K$ plus drone as much as they can ... safe operaions of drones is not that hard a all i do it myself with no problems just like with RC airplanes . too bad it will take a full size DJI droneor a like inside of a PW or GE on final or takeoff killing 100s of people for the FAA to take action on this .....
