Helicopter Christmas tree delivery

Beautiful. Now that is flying. That guy ain't a submarine driver.

That's pretty much how I flew the first day I hovered. Only, in my case I was completely out of control. :)

I thought this video was sped up at first. Amazing!

Nice video, don't think he's being paid by the hour.

Awesome! He's not wasting any time!:D

I'm guessing it was not his first day on the job....

When you watch a master like that at work you begin to understand what a magical machine the helicopter is.

Ok so, I've gotta ask...

Are these trees already cut or is that being accomplished some other way?

The trees are cut and bundled by a choker with a swedged fitting on the end of the cable. When the 'bell" on the main cable hits the ground near the stack the ground crew jams the cable end into the locking bell and away the load goes. At the dump the pilot pushes a button which retracts pawls in the bell dropping the load. The used chokers are coiled and shuttled back out to the field by another smaller copter. (R22 or Hughes 300)

That's amazing!!! Thanks for sharing!!

Ah crap I made a new post about this without checking to see if it was already posted. Fail!

For a second I thought we were going to see that New Zealand crash again.

Here is another video of the farm history and it shows the other end of how the copter makes the pick. (start around 6:30 if you want to jump to the flying)

That guy is amazing to watch.
