Line Up and Wait
Saw this VAS aviation video.
Why is it that the coast guard feels the need to conduct these kind of operations? What is the goal in doing them? Earnest question. It just seems entirely unnecessary to fly up the Schyulkil, crossing right through the 27R short final. At minimum they could continue following the Delaware northward and then cutover west so that there’s more vertical separation with landing traffic.
I grew up flying in the NYC class bravo so I’m no stranger to these low level, tight airspace maneuvers, but it just seems unnecessary IMO. It seems the KDCA crash is really throwing a light on heli ops these days.
