My son is four years old and I am looking for a headset. I was going to buy a Rugged Air RA-250 off of eBay (or equivalent) but I figured I would ask around here as well to see if anyone has one that are no longer using and wants to sell on the cheap! :)

I have a red one I’ll happily sell you for $50. Works fine.

Just an FYI in case you're planning on longer trips (this is probably overkill for short hops once in awhile) with the kids and want to avoid the hassles I went through with cheaper headsets and young kids. The kids headsets aren't really any different in size than a normal headset. I initially went this route with the rugged for my kids since it was marketed as a kids headset but they didn't like it and didn't keep it on all the time. I had them try on my A20 and Zulu and both fit them great. I ended up picking up a couple of used A20s for them and they even fit the 3 year old's head perfectly. I know it's way more expensive but they don't complain about wearing it since it's a million times more comfortable, aux jack plugs into their ipads on trips, and the hearing protection is so much better that I'm not as worried about being the cause of their pre-mature hearing loss.

Thanks a lot for the tips. What do you consider a long flight? My little one is four.

My kiddo uses A-20s (he’s 2.5). They fit him just fine. After a few hours in the plane though they start to hurt his ears. We now put a hat (think winter hat) over his ears and then his headset and that seems to do the trick.

I appreciate the info. I will soon have a young granddaughter flying with me and this helps a lot!

We originally had our son in a cheap pair of David Clark’s...and he was miserable. When my husband decided to pick up a new pair of Lightspeed Zulus, an old pair of A20s went to my son (4.5 years old) who is thrilled to be able to talk to mom/dad when we fly...and can listen to his iPad.

We had him temporarily in some Bose noice-cancelling headphones, but he would start screaming in the rear and no one would hear him...which made him angrier...and I’m not sure I was losing at the time by not hearing that, LOL (bad mommy!).

Yeah, I am worried about all of this. Trying to go take him maybe next week. Probably stay in the pattern at first.
