So I bought this Toyota w/25,000 miles on the odometer. Couple hundred miles later I noticed a thin line of oil on the head near the sealer. Wipe it off and within 500 miles it's back. Is the head gasket seeping oil? No smoke and the car runs fine. No oil in the coolant.

What you guys think?

DOHC 1.8L ? Could it be oil leaking from the valve cover?

+1. I've never seen a head gasket leak oil down the side of the block. When a head gasket leaks, it's usually into the combustion chamber and is coolant and oil. Try replacing the valve cover gasket with a quality part, like maybe a factory Toyota one. Most of the aftermarket parts I've gotten in the last 10 years were not good, unless they were a name brand that I knew.
