Training ( or staying current) is a vital part of being a pilot. IMHO.

Ray Hoffman,38, was a fine local fellow.
Prayers for his wife and four boys.

Ray had just bought a Hawker Sea Fury and was in the process of getting checked out in it. It nosed over abruptly and went into the trees.

This one blew me away. The guy just posted on WIX that that he had purchased the airplane a month ago and then....boom, gone.

The last few days have been horrible for GA.

Reviving this thread for other Sea Fury news...

After doing Memorial Day flyovers, the local Sea Fury went off the runway during landing at KAPA and ended up in the grass.

Owner is well known and sent an open letter to the Colorado Pilots Assn that he and his passenger were grateful to be fine, recovery took a little over five hours, and the Sea Fury will return to the folks in Breckenridge, TX (apparently the experts on such aircraft, mentioned also in this thread), to be rebuilt to fly again.

Gear collapse and other damage.
