I am looking to rent a C172 or similar in Hawaii with a CFI for 2-3 hours of flying around. Can someone suggest the best outfit to rent from?

It will be just me, my wife and the local CFI so a 172 should be fine and certainly cheaper than a 182.

Any suggestions on an FBO or special things to see/do related to flying there?

We'll be out there about 10 days from now and based near Kona.

Search in the TripAdvisor sub forum for Big Island and you may get some results. I plan to be in Hawaii in early December (Oahu and Maui) and found a couple recommendations for there - Moore Air and Maui Aviators respectively. Haven't looked up Kona so can't help you there. All the best!

Tropicbird at Kona. I've flown with them 3 times over the years and they are good. I recommend just taking the CFI along (if W&B permit) as they make great tour guides and can pronounce the reporting points on the radio.
