Today marks the 105th anniversary of the first successful flight of the Wright Flyer... we are encouraged by presidential proclamation "to observe that day with appropriate ceremonies and activities." :yesnod:

Don't think I'll get to fly today, but here's an activity: who can tell me who the only non-human witness (other than seagulls) was on that historic occasion (species and name)? :D

Thank you Orville and Wilbur for your perseverance, patience, purpose, and the Pride you took in your task. Because of you I can fly. I will be indebted to you for ever...... Bob

yippee, ive already flown twice today, have two more flights scheduled.

Also just so happens to be the 5th anniversary of me getting my initial CFI, and i signed off a private pilot candidate this morning!

On this day five years ago I was event staff at FFA during the centennial celebration week there. Once in a lifetime experience.

When I visited the memorial about 10 years ago or so. I had a great feeling of pride and awe as I walked down that path that runs adjacent to their flight path. As a Pilot and remembering their contribution to flight I was filled with a warm fuzzy feeling. Picture taken from the top of the hill at FFA.
