I built my wife a prepper galley in the hangar just outside the kitchen door and next to the hangar lounge. She has a counter for the freeze dryer, jar sealer, pressure canner, composter, and ice cream machine. She’s all smiles.

Wow. Very nicely done. She’s got to be pleased with that.

Leaving my hangar, you first come to my woodworking shop and then after passing the bath/laundry, you get my wife's office/workroom (mostly used for plant propagation these days). Then you enter the house proper.

It amazes me how many houses don’t have a bathroom between the garage/woodworking shop/whatever and the clean parts of the house. One house I owned, I had to track through the entire house to get to the bathroom that was actually adjacent to the entry hallway where I came into the house.

Fortunately that was before I was married.

Bathroom is in the corner past the sitting area and TV. Tools and benches on the opposite wall. I don’t do woodwork in the hangar if I can help it. Too much dust. The ramp works for that. Wife’s greenhouses and raised beds support the prepper thing. We have racks of canned and freeze dried food. Not that we’re doomsdayers, she just enjoys doing it.

I'd be worried about the two small fish in such close proximity to the bear.

Yep, there is a laundry room and a bath (toilet/ shower). I also have a large sink in the hangar.
My wife also has a pushbutton door lock tog et from the back gardens directly into the closest bathroom.

Of course, being in AK you are already out of higher potentials in the lower 48. It’s always nice to have a few supplies to get through extended weather events or power interruptions.

It's an action-life scene.

OP: The fish on the left intrigues me. Is that a sculpture, or did you fillet it then pewter the head and skeleton?

The big one is a scaled and very accurate reproduction of an 86# king salmon that I caught about 25 years ago. The others are metal art.

Alaska isn’t what most guys imagine. We have power utilities and grocery stores, too. It doesn’t matter where we are, we prefer to grow what we eat. Wife is a certified master gardener and isn’t into flowers so it works well.

I'm surprised gardening is a licensed profession, particularly in a state with the highest per capita number of non-certificated pilots.

Profession? Your comment shows your lack of understanding of the topic you’re commenting on. I suspect that’s true of your pilot comment, as well.

That wasn't meant as a dig. And no, I don't have much of an understanding of the topic. Regarding the pilot topic, I've seen that stat thrown around more than once or twice. True? You know better than me. Obviously.

Sheesh, lighten up people.

All good. To the pilot thing? I can’t recall the last time I heard of an accident in Alaska that involved a non-licensed pilot. Do I think there are guys flying without? Sure. Picture a kid growing up in an aviation family in the real bush where the feds don’t rule. I suspect the same is true in rural lower 48.

You need to hang out in the mishaps forum a bit.
