LOL. Thanks.
I enjoyed a surprise trip to Vegas that the Mrs booked and tried to keep secret but as various folks tried to get me to put things on the calendar, she gave up and told me to say no.
Played a little craps, and shoved some money into various one-armed bandits, tried a couple of other dumb (as in knowing they were worse odds but still playing anyway) table games, up and down but the House always wins in the end.
The funniest table game (didn't play but watched drunk people play) was that Vegas now has the good old game of War as a table game. You get one card, dealer gets one card. that night it was a $10 minimum. Tie pays out 10:1 otherwise you can do the math and see how awful the odds are. LOL! Bunch of decks. I'd guess six or eight looking at the shoe. Drunk people don't count anyway.
Parked my fat butt in one of the hot tubs one afternoon at the Bellagio and marveled that I was the skinny guy. LOL!
Got yelled at on the Strip by a Cowboys fan when wearing one of my Broncos shirts. LOL. He was not happy.
Brother in law asked me to see what the Vegas line was on the Broncos to win the Super Bowl. Before today's game it was 2.5:1. Heh. The sports book guy looked at me funny when I asked, even after I said it was for my brother in law, "Well, um... Not good for the better!" Haha. I know dude, I know. Just tell me so I can send it to my brother in law.
Went and saw Penn & Teller. Loved their anti-TSA bit. Their Bill of Rights bit in that one is brilliant. Their little firearms trick is also nifty but I think I figured that one out. Their take on the old trick of sawing a woman in half is pretty funny too. Best and most thoughtful bit was their American Flag bit.
Go see 'em in Vegas if you get the chance. Definitely worth the price of admission. I won't spoil it for ya.
Penn is even bigger than I thought he was. Dude is Ogre-sized. Teller isn't quite as small as Penn makes him look, it's partially an illusion in and of itself since you usually see them in relation to each other. They hang out in the lobby after every show. Very class act.
Always find Vegas interesting. Such a mixture of what makes America cool and what makes it such a disaster, all in the same place. Or maybe that was just the buffet...
Friday afternoon walking the strip and stopping for an overpriced piña colada didn't suck.
Interesting thing was the contrast in noise level after we got into DIA, picked up the pup at the kennel and got home. Even with 30 knot winds gusting at the house it was sooooooo quiet outside. And dark. Nice. Man it's loud in Vegas.
Vegas is fun in small doses.
I could hang out at a good craps table for hours if things are going well. Late last night I was watching some drunk hick win a few thousand bucks while some well-heeled guy in a tailored suit was losing and turning his nose up at the loud hick who was turning and high-giving me and everyone else around whenever his goofy hard-ways 2 and 12 bets would hit. He hit like six of those in a relatively short timespan which annoyed the suit guy to no end. LOL!
The Ferrari with one of those Pine Tree air fresheners hanging from the rear-view with the top down, made me scratch my head a little.
People watching in Vegas is often the most fun of all.
Always tip the wait staff... and the dealers... And the myriad of people in various jobs schlepping your luggage around.
On the way out SWA probably took at least 1/4 of the brake pads off as they stood on them to make the exit they wanted in full reverse. I think that was the best airliner deceleration I've ever been on. Didn't quite smoke the tires but he was standing on the brakes. Wheee! I grunted against Mr Seatbelt on that one. Someone made the carrier pilot joke which got a chuckle out of most of the self-loading cargo.
We were *only* (chuckle) #10 for departure on SWA out of KLAS today. LOL. I was sitting there timing and realized we'd be 1/4 of the way home in the 182 from start of boarding to takeoff. Was also fun to guess exact takeoff clearance roll time from the #10 announcement and adjusting it by 30 more seconds when I saw the 757 go by on his roll. Heh. Caution, wake turbulence.

Talking with the guy next to me, he was impressed with the timing accuracy of the KLAS tower controllers. 30 seconds on the dot, another airplane full of home bound travelers would go thundering by.

They're nothing if not efficient at one of a few holes of the "remain clear of the Class Bravo" SOP locations.
The giant Low over the Rockies gave the usual ass kicking right at the hog back in the descent and the downwind extended to somewhere near the Wyoming line. Heh. Also meant a nice tailwind. Was seated with other frequent flyers and we just continued chatting as the folks forward of us were flipping out about finding out what those seatbelts are for. If DEN would wait to descend 'em until they turn 'em onto the downwind northbound when landing south, that'd be a lot less bumpy ride.
Hogback. Every time. Thump. Thump. THUMP. Thumpthumpthump. THUMP. Drop. Thump. Done. Heh.
Birthdays are notorious around here for being lame. Karen may have finally broken the curse.
A PoA Vegas fly-in. Now that could be interesting...
