Hangaring near El Dorado, Kansas (KEQA)

As always it comes down to life priorities. Middle America has the upside of cost of living. I've personally always felt some relative measure of low population density as a form of effective affluence. I prefer space over being packed in like sardines over proximity to some cultural icon I can otherwise visit. Of course, it all comes down to income as well. Having a "national income" job, i.e. income derived from non-local sources but that otherwise affords you the logistics of living where you otherwise can extend your buck without having to drive a long distance everyday, is the sweet spot in QOL. IT folks, major airline pilots, traveling medical professionals et al come to mind. There's a lot of cheap land in America if you can port your income.
