Anyone know the difference between a 2J17 blade and an F2J17 blade?

The Hamilton Standard Propelllers Service Manual 110D (My copy is dated March 19, 1945 is not kept current, should be used for entertainment only - all standard disclaimers apply etc etc) contains the following description on the blade part numbers:
(a) GENERAL DESlGNTlONS ...... As an example, on a blade designated as a C6167A-12 the numbers and letters indicate the following:
1. The first letter, in this case "C", indicates that a molded rubber fairing has been added to the blade shank. Various styles of fairings are identified by changes in this letter designation.
2. The first number group, "6167", is the basic blade design.

This might explain the difference if the same or similar numbering system is used on your propeller.

OK, but does your "for entertainment use only" manual tell you what the "F" means? I figure it's some kind of minor modification, but does it tell what that mod is?

BTW, I've got a few of those manuals myself :wink2:.

It's on a prop for a P-2 Neptune. I don't know ANYTHING about H-S props, but I'm trying to help out a friend.
