I got Guitar Hero 2 yesterday, when I should have been sleeping. I strongly suggest this game to anyone that played Guitar Hero and loved it, or anyone who has played any stringed instrument at any time in their life.

Its amazing. There's not a whole lot of new features that Guitar Hero didn't have, but the ones that are there are really cool. And Expert mode is MUCH harder.

Now....I gotta get a band up and going to join the next Be A Guitar Hero contest so that we can get in the game! Yeah!

Hey Nick, I was thinking of getting that for my son, who has just started trying to learn guitar. Would this help him or confuse him?

Ken,

I doubt that much confuses Steven-with-a-v.

Well, this is true -- except that girls tend to addle his 12-year-old mind. He doesn't know yet whether to love 'em or hate 'em.

(But son #2 is the guitar wannabe. That's Parker-with-a-k.)

While i dont think it would confuse him, it wont help him any. From watching Nick play the old version earlier this year, its seemed to me to be more like a Simon game on steroids.

It may help him develop a sense of rythm and a musical ear, but it won't help him develop any sense of how to play music. For that you need drilling in the fundamentals and practice, practice, practice.

as the others said, it will help with hand-eye coordination and rhythm. It will also build pinky strength, which is the hardest finger to develop.

But it really won't help anyone learn how to play guitar. It is a fun game though. I have read a lot of reports of people learning Guitar Hero and then having the drive to play a real guitar, though.
