A lot of the airports we go to in our SR22 has ASDE (ground radar) however our GTX327 transponder automatically switches from ALT to STBY mode below 35 knots. Even if you force it into ALT, it sometimes reverts back to STBY and ATC complains that we're not squawking mode C. Is there a way to disable that functionality?

A delay time can be set in the Configuration Mode, causing the GTX 327 to wait a specified length of time after landing before automatically changing to STBY mode.

From the GTX 327 Manual:
Automatic ALT/STBY Mode Switching
If the GTX 327 is configured with Automated Airborne Determination, ALT mode selection occurs when lift-off is sensed. When the aircraft is on the ground, the transponder automatically selects and displays STBY. The transponder does not respond to ATCRBS interrogations when STBY is annunciated. When a delay time is set (dependent upon installation configuration), the GTX 327 waits the specified length of time after landing before changing to STBY mode.

NOTE: Transponder options are normally set at time of installation. For changes to the GTX 327 parameters, contact your Garmin authorized service center.

To access the config menu turn the 327 off first. Press and hold the FUNC key and then press the ON key while holding the FUNC key down.

Once the unit powers up release the FUNC key.

Release and press the FUNC key several times (to get to the second config menu page (shows Squat Switch in upper left corner).

Press the CRSR key to advance the highlighted field to "Auto Standby ON"

Press the 8 key to turn the selection to OFF (might actually be one of the other numeric keys).

Press the CRSR key to save the change and "unhighlight" the field.

Power off and back on to restore normal operation.

That might be good for landing somewhere. Does not help when trying to depart an ASDE airport.

Right - you must turn the Auto Standby mode completely OFF to obtain full control of the transponder, not just change the delay mode.

Wish I had seen this earlier. Had to experience the problem, research causes and reconfigure it as described.

For those of you with a GTX 327, you should do this.
