Grooveshark has been one of my favorite Internet streaming music sites but I couldn't listen to it mobile because a) they do not have an Iphone app, and b) they use Flash to stream music, which is not supported by IOS.
Until now. They have a beta running that uses HTML5, which is supported by IOS. It works!
Pandora is still more reliable and less buggy, but Grooveshark has a couple advantages: a) to the extent that the preprogrammed channels work for you, the music selection is far wider and b) you can actually search out and play specific songs. On the full web version you can also create song playlists. Most streaming sites just let you play a genre based on a song or group.
Tried it at the gym this morning. It had a tendency to hang, but aside from that the sound quality was great and so was the selection of high energy dance mix.
As a side note, April 5th will mark the 10th anniversary of Layne Staley's death. Probably few know or care who he is, but he was the lead vocalist for Alice and Chains. So, on that day I will be streaming lots of depressing, suicidal Alice and Chains songs.
