As I was flying back from Bend, OR. today in my plane my back seat passenger snapped this picture of a great local landmark called Castle Rock. It sticks up about 6700 ft.. and can be seen from over 60 miles away on a clear day. In the background is a mountain called Ironside Mountain .

You can see where it got its name! It really looks like a castle.

Pretty cool territory you fly over there, Bob. I would be pretty nervouse in our C-150 in terrain like that.

Sort of looks like Raymond Burr.

Another picture taken on the same day. Not a landmark like Castle Rock but the Prineville Res. near the town of Prineville, OR. on the Crooked River. about 15 min out of Bend Airport to the East.

While I was in Central Oregon, some friends took me out to see Smith Rock, a climbing rock out of Terrebonne, OR. I took a picture. Note: ( I was not flying the airplane when I took this picture.)

A little wider view of Smith Rocks, a fantastic playground for climbers.

Sorry I meant to say I was not flying the airplane when I took this picture.

Did anyone else flash back to Close Encounters?

Awesome pictures. Would love to have been there.
