I had to use mine for real, yo......... Took off, tried to call up approach and all I had was a carrier, no voice. I had a jack problem on the panel. Grabbed the Yaesu, plugged it into the panel antenna jack, made my calls and all was good!
Funny part was I was enroute to my avionics shop to have the AP worked on, so they fixed the jack as well.
Just make sure to keep it charged and/or order up one of the AA battery packs and keep some lithium batteries in in it.
