What are folks paying for their database updates?

I'd like to compare the updates costs for the KLN-94 and the 430.

You can't find this info on the manufacturer's websites (at least I couldn't).

Nav database subscription for the 430 is $355

Garmin 430W/530W is, according to the Jepp website, $310/yr for East/Centeral or West/Central, and $380 for full US. It's not on Garmin's site because it comes from Jepp, not Garmin.

What he said. I pay the $380 for the Jep updates for my 430W. You also need the card programmer which costs around $40-50

I did update my terrain and obstruction DBs n the 430 this past year. The programmer alone cost just under $100, this is not the same programmer as the Jep one. Then the two databases cost $200 (150 for the terrain and 50 for the obstacle).

When I had my KLN90B the database from Bendix King (Approaches, airports, nav aid, etc only) cost around $330. No card programmer was needed. I just plugged in my laptop from the serial port to a special plug on the panel. This meant I needed to keep a laptop around that had a serial port on it. I was going to try a USB to serial adapter but never got around to it as I bought the 430W.

Our most recent annual renewals (circa last summer) were:
- $410 for KLN/94
- $465 for single 430W
- $630 for a dual 430W

These are "Americas" databases.

Once a year we also do one-time (not subscription) obstacle database updates on the 430W for $49.95 each.
