Ah, jeez, lighten up - even the best scientists dick around with less than serious stuff in their labs from time to time - sharing it on film a little less, but sharing the fun.
 
That's fine, just do it ether in your own time/dime, or if you're less ethical and decide screw someone over wasting their payroll do play around, do it to a private company who can just can you after they discover the video.

Doing on the tax payers dime, folks who are FORCED to pay your wages, not so much.
 
I didn't see a single pigeon, so, I think that is fraudulent.
 
Those uniforms looked like German WW2 uniforms. So I suppose it wasn't OUR tax dollars...

This is just tooooooo funny. All our neocons are getting their panties in a wad over a 50 to 75 year-old video clip that likely wasn't even made in the United States.

You bet they are. In fact the govt. Has been involved to a great degree in every major advance in this country which is why we are not third world status. Easy to look up. University grants from the govt. Are responsible for a lot of it. You need to read more. Get away from the TV!

Someone partisan is bound to say something that'll get it whacked like a mob hit.

A number of partisan attacks already posted above, and people pretending they're not doing it by saying "those people" and pretending the third party false voice isn't intended more to start arguments rather than add any useful information.

Not that the thread ever had a chance of being even slightly useful.

Or that people wouldn't start making passive-aggressive comments pretending they aren't arguing politics.

Really old politics, too. Whole topic is silly. Country had money for manned space flight and space physiology research a generation or two ago. Or at least a nice big fear that Soviets would get ahead in the Cold War, so spending without questioning why, was popular.

Today, $0.45/$1 our government spends is borrowed, which piles the continuous deficits on to record setting debt -- with no plan to slow it or pay it off.

Back when these videos and studies were made, this was done at less than half the current multiplier.

Basing the opinion of whether or not these types of things are "worth it" on long dead budgets of the past, when the country was still able to pay for it, as dead as those days are.

We hitch rides on Soyuz to have humans go to space now. Orion will maybe fly someday.

No bucks, no Buck Rogers.
