Our day today...

8' x 18' trailer about 4' deep of rotten wood and some new wood from the backyard of the house we are working on to sell... after the neighbors helped cut the trees down.

And we'd already started unloading it when I remembered to shoot a photo.

How was your day? I'm tired. ;) Karen is nursing a bottle of ibuprofen somewhere muttering something about "if I never see another wood pile..."

The trailer from the side for context...

All delivered to the local compostable material pile at the landfill. $65. Waste Management will be selling it all back to you as mulch sometime soon.

I'm too much of a sci-fi geek...

Saw the title and "Plan 9 from Outer Space" popped into my forebrain...

Wasn't sure where you were going with this thread by the title, but I'm relieved.

$65 for compostable materials? What about a newspaper and a match?

How much to rent the chipper then sell the mulch?

And fuel the chipper, and the tow vehicle, and the time involved in waiting for a buyer... and still needing to dispose of the stuff that wouldn't mulch and would have turned to sawdust...

Just for fun I just tried to call the local rental place to find out. They didn't bother answering their phone or even having voice mail, so guess I'll never know. ;)

It wasn't worth it. ;)

Four words. Craig's List Free Stuff.

It would have been gone in 15 mins.

I've done that before. In this case, I seriously doubt it. Maybe. That stuff was 12+ years old with few BTUs left to give. It was buried under pine needles and generally wasn't worth the hassle.

I have a feeling if I went that route they'd have cherry picked out stuff and I'd still have a dump run afterward.

Craigslist did however clear out the excess furniture in two days flat and I didn't have to move any of it. Ha.

And green stuff in my pocket. ;)

Yeah I have green stuff in my pocket too.

I really need to do this month's laundry, soon.
