Got some sim time yesterday

In the F-16. Visited a friend of mine who is in training with the Texas ANG down at Lackland AFB. He took me into the sim and showed me what the F-16 is like. Spent about 45 mins doing various maneuvers and getting the feel for it. One thing is for sure: that thing will gain altitude in a hurry. After that we went to the flight line and I sat in a real one. I was one happy camper. Went back up there this morning and watched them taxi out and fly overhead as they came off the end of the runway. Good two days.

One of my co-pilots was a ANG 16 driver. Kinda funny to watch those guys learn CRM and crew coordination after years of doing everything by themself. I asked him what percent of his conscious thought was involved in flying the plane vs managing weapons, communication and all the other stuff. He said about 5%.
