I honestly was dreading the effect of the shutdown, but somehow it worked out.
As an insulin-dependent diabetic, I have to renew my 3rd class every year. That's fine by me - the requirements aren't any more than collecting and mailing a year's worth of documentation of stuff I do anyway every year (visit my endo every quarter, visit my eye doctor annually).
My medical expires every year at the end of August. I submitted the paperwork on June 2nd, as per the letter they had sent with the original special issuance. Stupidly, I imagined that was plenty early. Seems like that's not so... I have become increasingly concerned recently with the lack of response.
Well, finally got it today. Felt like it went down to the wire, even though I still have three weeks left on my former authorization. I sure am glad I followed the instructions and submitted early though... that's almost 80 days!
