Ohhh that was nice.

Boss kicked me out of work early because I have a 1 AM maintenance to do.

Chugged over to the airport and ran around the pattern.

Had to break off one early after doing a low approach for opposite direction traffic.

Did some w/ flaps, some without, two simulated engine-outs, and one "please extend your downwind for opposite direction traffic to the south shore of Cherry Creek", and then they let me land Runway 10 full-stop.

Apologies to the Challenger crew who had to stop on Alpha to let me land overhead. I appreciated not having to fly over your tail. ;)

Timing of the controller calling me a long base didn't quite work out there. ;)

Oh and my sprained right wrist from a couple weekends ago finally isn't bugging me either. Yay!

Looks like fun. Guessing like 1.5 on the Hobbs?

So that was you doing 747 patterns, not turning base until a couple miles north of Arapahoe? I thought I recognized that red/white high wing. I was down there hustling for CPA & the LSA Expo.

They made me do that...! I swear! :)

They had opposite direction jet traffic landing 35R on the Visual approach, landing with a 10 knot tailwind. I'm running around the pattern in right traffic for 17R.

They had me extend to "the south shore" and I asked if they wanted to call my base. They said yes and then did something up in the tower where the next three transmissions were nothing but a feedback squeal...

I think it was shift-change, and something was goofed when the 6PM guy plunged in.

Anyway... they called my base at the NORTH shore... hahahaha... I had already slowed way way down and was lolligagging along at 75 knots trying not to end up in Westminster before they called the turn. LOL!

They also had me change one landing to a low approach for the same reason. I used it as an excuse to do the "fly down the runway slow as you can, but don't touch down" exercise, then when she said she needed me westbound for the opposite direction landing King Air, I sidestepped a bit, cleaned it up, and then turned an early crosswind, low.

Was a fun mix, goofing around with all the opposite direction traffic. The two King Air drivers seemed to know each other... comments like, "We'll give way for Troy"... heh.
