Hi

I don't have a way to convert word docs to PDF here at home - at work, yes, but not at home.

I know there are free programs online. The one at work is set up so that you go to the print request and instead click on PDF...

any recos for something safe and free to put on my home computer please?

Cute pdf writer is free and seems to work just fine here.

Been using cute pdf for years.

Another vote for cutepdf. I was using pdf995, but it has an anoying ad that you must wait through unless you upgrade.

Wouldn't Openoffice be able to "print" to pdf?

Open Office is a very alternative but there are some compatibility issues with MSOffice. As far as I can tell it is only with complicated macros and formatting. I suspect bugs became features as people figured out ways around them.

I'm also a fan of CutePDF, been using it for years. One of the cool things is that use can use Acrobat Reader to print selected pages, which you can't do with the Adobe print to pdf drivers.

I've been using Primo PDF for the past 4 years.

Works great - no adds.
