Depends on the altitude. FL410, no problem.
 
You obviously have never flown an RV!

Haven driven through that area on days where winds topped 100 MPH, you may well be flying if you try to take an RV (the Winnebago kind) though some of those passes with clouds like that...
 
Yeah, and I'm sure those conditions probably extended quite a ways in both directions making it tough to do an end around.
 
I wish I had a picture of the thunderstorm I saw off to the right while in the back of an aluminum flying from Long Beach to Phoenix. That was one had "You Don't Want to Fly Here" written all over it. Big, extensive, N A S T Y.
 
That ridge is not producing those Lennies.. But the lennies look great to a glider pilot!
