Successfully transmuted a student into the League of Temporary Airmen: Private Pilot rank. Congratulations Michael (blue shirt)! You did good work and deserve the reward!
It is a desired "badge of honor" amongst instructors, along lines of "Master Instructor" from the different instructor alphabet organizations. It is a mark of distinction that helps distinguish you from other CFIs. To become a Gold Seal Flight Instructor, you must have trained at least 10 applicants in the last 24 months with an 80% pass rate on the first attempt.
Maybe for a pilot who's only experience has been instructing. My badge or honor or mark of distinction over the past 20 years has been how many of my former students have become pilots in general or perhaps have become professional pilots themselves. That plus the exponential lives that they have shaped by themselves being a professionals.
I'm trying to figure which one is you, and don't say the guy with the beard. I'm guessing you are on the right. Congrats by the way.
That's cool. We encourage you to start your own thread celebrating your students accomplishments. Let Mike celebrate his.
Not what I intended Mike. My apologies if it came off like that. The point I was intending to make was that you are creating aviators and that in and of itself should be considered a badge of honor.
I noticed when I was issued my "Temporary Airman Certificate" that I must have officially been a "Temporary Airman." It's an elite club. You can only belong to it about 90 days unless you keep working on new ratings and stuff.
It did before someone changed it. There is another group of instructors. We are the ones that don’t care about what color is on our certificate because we already know we kick ass.
Mike it’s been fun watching your journey from the family business to professional aviation. Congratulations on living your dream and take it as a good sign that your first student was successful on his first attempt. May the next nine be just as successful.
