So I have to go out to Pamona CA in a couple of weeks. Anybody close by that wants to connect I will have afternoons off. Also taking suggestions on things to visit/do. Any aviation related attractions, great drives, state parks and such. I will be there over easter weekend as well.

Pomona? Still not hot enough to make Raging Waters waterpark attractive to me. Chino Hills State Park is 8-10 miles south but not a destination spot. I lived in SoCal for 45 years but can't think of too much out in the Pomona area that's very special.

I live about 15 minutes from there. When will you be here?

Lots of aviation things to do, great drives, etc.

Or, we can jump in an airplane and FLY.

Whelp... You'll need a packing list:

Glock 22
Ammo
Bullet proof vest
AK 47
Quick Clot
Malt liquor
Ammo
Street cred
Tear drop tat on right upper cheek
Ammo

Yep... That aughta do it. I have a buddy from the Corps who is a cop in Pomona. When they shoot up the police station on one day and they find a dead body on the police steeps another day, I'm pretty sure we know who is NOT running the city.

Well, the most recent shooting in Pomona I could find reference to was allegedly by an LAPD officer...

It's not that bad. I live a nice clean middle-class life very near to there and I have never had trouble.

That would be awesome. I will be arriving sometime on March 29th and leaving late Monday night April 6th.

Never lived in the area but worked for 25 years near it. I guess when you live there, you make lemonade.

I'm next door [about] to Ralphie - my airplane is at Brackett which is in La Verne which is within 9mm range of Pomona. . . . .and I'm sorry, btw.

My hangar is next to the tower at POC and we sit there, and listen to Tower and watch the planes come and go -

Hehe.. that's a pretty tidy list of Los Angeles stereotypes from 1982, your friend is hilarious. Now let's do the Arkansas ones, just in case OP gets lost on his trip.

Don't forget to bring:

A "kissin' cousin" (extra credit if'n its a double cousin or mama named her louella mae)
Overalls & bare feet.
Piggie squeal.
3 teeth maximum.
White sheet with holes furr'n eyes.
A talking fish plaque.
An opinion on nascar. (extra credit for solemnly remembering where you were when Dale Earnhardt passed on)
An eye for real estate with attached wheels.
Friends named scooter or trey.
A trans am.
Wallet on a chain.
A sleeveless shirt in case there is a formal occasion.
An appreciation for sweet tea, however indefensible.
Tin of skoal.

:wink2:

Perhaps the OP will care to schedule surrounding the weekend. See Schedule of Events for Planes of Fame.
http://planesoffame.org/index.php?page=2015_calendar

Even if not able to attend any of those lectures, every Saturday morning there is quite a show as various aircraft fire up between the hangers. Public is welcome. Be sure to show up 'tween 1000 and 1200 hours.

(Cue Ed Sullivan voice) Fer the really big shew, May 2nd and 3rd is the Planes of Fame Airshow! God willing I will have some free tickets. If the OP can make it he can have two tix.

Otherwise, there is also a flight to Big Bear or Catalina or Palm Springs (Great on-field air museum) or various air museums in San Diego or a flight down the South Coast or a tour of the USS Iowa at LA harbor.

Yeah, it's all a distance. But that's the thing about SoCal; there is much to do but it's a drive (or flight). Hey, you could go to Perris Valley or French Valley or FlaBob (EAA Chapter #1).

The National Cemetery adjacent to March AFB to pay your respects or even the museum at March are worth it.
