geez... its 56.1 nm.. probably take ya 24 minutes to get there and 40 back home.... Just close your eyes and hit it.;)

Looks like a great day to fly, clear on both sides, north winds in the pass, 8-15 knts at 9K.

Not as bad though as the TAF for Friday...

I better book the FBO's SR-71. It should be able to make headway against those winds. Not sure about the temperature limit, though. I better wear shorts to keep cool.

Looks like it could get a "Little" wild here today.

I was planning a Bay Tour this afternoon. Here's the local TAF:

KSFO 201134Z 2012/2118 12008KT P6SM SCT200
FM201800 15015G28KT P6SM SCT050 BKN120
FM202100 15020G32KT P6SM SCT035 BKN050
FM210000 15020G32KT P6SM SCT025 OVC040 PROB30 2103/2107 -RA BKN035
FM210800 14015G25KT P6SM -RA FEW025 BKN035 OVC050
FM211200 14015G25KT P6SM RA SCT015 OVC025

Clouds and visibility are fine, but with winds like that, it's going to be very bouncy due to the terrain. It's also going to confuse the locals because the wind is almost precisely backwards. A Class B transition is probably out of the question, as KSFO will probably be using 19L/R for both takeoffs and landings.

I was going to offer a friend a ride to wilmington tonight but this is the TAF for my return time

Isn't that the TAF pretty much every day?

Hey MAKG - we're landing and taking off east today - I don't think its possible to get into POC from the west . . . there are hills out there that block the runways - plus - when I landed on 08R the hillock that the POM VOR is on caused +/- 30 degree deviations on heading on short final . . . geesh.

The e6B in the 530 was reporting winds 170@40 - yep - 40. And I had the heading wind correction to back that up = yet - the pass was pretty mellow today. Only a few bumps and they were east of the pass - with SSE winds too - was a strange day.

Left work early today to go shopping, wishing I was flying. Perfect dead calm day.
If its like this tomorrow and the boss kicks us out early again, screw the shopping, I'm going flying!

But with that SFO TAF headed this way, I should have gone today?
