Was at the Michigan / Air Force game today. Interesting game...we didn't play as well as I would have liked, but we still won. But this did fly over just at the end of the national anthem...

This picture doesn't begin to do justice to just how cool it was. I was watching the band finish up the national anthem when my friends said "Look, look!" I looked where they were pointing, and just to the right of one of the scoreboards was a B-2 flying really low and directly at us. Wonder which base it came from. Pretty awesome!

And of course, go blue!

A B-2 below storm clouds. Not something you see often.

(That will be funny to those who know what I'm talking about.)

No idea where he took off from that day but chances are he's based out of Whiteman. 19 out of 20 flying B-2s are based there.

I didn't know that B-2s could bellow storm clouds! That must be pretty impressive to see :).

Hmm...now care to enlighten the rest us about what you might be talking about? :)

Does the rain actually wash the coating off, or does the water stick to the surface, thus giving it a much more reflective surface?

Well the detailes, I would suspect, are classified, but it's my understanding that once it gets wet, it needs maintenance. So not sure if "washes off" is the right term, or just ruined.

The author of that book "Stealth Fighter" talks a lot about this re: his experiences in the F-117 in Kosovo. He made it sound like the jet just basically wasn't waterproof, and water would get into places and mess stuff up. No idea if this is true for the B-2, but I can't imagine that any of these aircraft are that durable.

Also a super nice guy accidentally meeting him two rows over at Oshkosh, and flies a 182. ;)

Cool. Yea, I suspect there are a lot of issues with these kinds of aircraft.

However the F-117 and the B-2 use very different approches to evade radar. The F-117 scatters it, while the B-2 absorbs it.

We had a B-2 do a flyover at our local strip in Bolingbrook last year at our annual Cavalcade of Planes. We're a 3400' strip under the ORD class Bravo, and still manage to get between 12,000 and 18,000 attendees at the 2-day event! Gives me hope for GA!
