GlobalFlyer on display for aviation event

http://www.bizjournals.com/search/bin/search?t=wichita&am=wichita&q=""&f=byline&am=120_days&r=20[font=Times New Roman,Times,Serif]The GlobalFlyer aircraft, which has remained in a Salina Municipal Airport hangar, but out of public view since its round-the-world flight ended at that facility March 3, will be on display April 28 at the airport.

The general public will be able to view the special mission GlobalFlyer aircraft and also to hear a discussion, "Dreamers and Achievers," a panel of black pilots.

Among the panel guests will be retired Kansas Rep. U.L. "Rip" Gooch, a pilot in the Black Aviators Hall of Fame and a Wichita resident.

The GlobalFlyer was piloted by Steve Fossett, who made the flight in 67 hours.

"We are thrilled that Steve Fossett has agreed to allow a public viewing of his aircraft," said Dennis Kuhlman, dean of K-State at Salina.

Both events will take place at the Salina Municipal Airport.

The panel discussion will begin at 10 a.m. Public viewing of the GlobalFlyer will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will continue until 7 p.m.

There is no charge for the events.
