I could have skipped reading hundreds of pages of reading for my PPL if this has been around sooner.

Many funny looking shapes on sectionals where airspace looks chopped up are all evidence of where something new came along at some point in history... A new VOR for example, etc. Look for weird airspace shapes and then hunt for really old sectionals or a really old pilot and they'll often know what took a bite out of the old airspace. Fun to hunt for them.
