It was a beautiful VFR day today. I flew over to the other side of lake Michigan to Lansing, Michigan to visit a music store over there that I have been wanting to see. The flight was 2 hours each way of wonderful, almost no wind, unlimited vis, WX. I put 5 hours on the hobbs meter today!!
On the way home I decided to take the Eisenhower VFR path from the lake front to the west side of Chicago and then up to Burlington for some cheap gas ($3.19gal). The Eisenhower corridor is very fun to fly, you get up right next to the skyscappers and actually have to fly lower than them to stay legal VFR, for just up ahead the O'Hare class B comes down to 1900 MSL.
Here are a couple of shots as I went through the downtown area, I can only imagine what the people in the observation deck of the Sears Tower were thinking. I'll bet if hizzoner saw me turn straight towards the skyscrappers when I was over the harbor he would have had kittens
A bit later I passed pretty close to the Met Life Blimp. That was neat to see form the air. I took a couple of pics of that as well. ATC did not seem to know who they were. Just gave me a traffic alert that there was a slow moving target up ahead.
