Oddly enough, tucked in one of the nooks and crannies of the aircraft was the following survival kit: one forty-five caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four sealed amphorae of ambrosia; one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, ergotamine, mescaline; one miniature combination Enochian phrase book and Bible; one hundred dollars in drachmas; one hundred dollars in obols; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three laurel branches; three pair of nylon stockings.
 
Great airplanes,glad they hadn't sent it to scrap yard.

The war room line is one of the best in any movie ever! Strangelove was just on the other night. Great movie.

If they had cast anyone else other than Slim Pickens, that line would never worked as well...

Actually, Peter Sellers was originally intended to play that role as well as that of the President, Dr. Strangelove, and the RAF officer. They thought it might be spreading him a bit thin. I believe they did modify the dialog a bit when Pickens came on board.

From a documentary I watched on the movie, Peter Sellers was supposed to play Major 'King' Kong but he sustained injury to his leg and thus could not climb into the cockpit.
I wonder how that role would have worked out. It would have been interesting for sure.

It seems like the ratio of prophylactics to stockings is off.
