A C172RG just landed gear up at Opa Locka, FL airport. They had right gear trouble - in repeated attempts to raise and lower the gear it never locked in either position.

The CNN video showed a PERFECT belly landing - right down the center line. The engine must have been off - both ends of the prop got bent but I think it only did one turn before stopping. Both pilots got out successfully with no signs of injury.

Of course, they had stripes on their shoulders.

Nice job.

That's great that it went well.

But I would be surprised if there was a pilot here who is not capable of doing just as well of a job.

From everything ive seen or heard, gear up landings (intentional) usually turn out this way, smooth and on centerline. I guess we should focus as much on each landing as much as we would if the gear were up!

So much smoother and more relaxing to all, (including the insurance companies!) than somebody in a jeep yanking on a gear leg 4' behind a spinning, bobbing prop!
