Gear collapse on landing, caught on tape!

I'd agree it was an emergency landing... it's even described as such in the caption.

Most likely emergency was not having a locked indication on that right main... the pilot didn't seem to try to stay off it, but who knows...?

At any rate, it's good to know everybody got out safely!

been there done that

Haha you break a lot of airplanes.

I'd have to guess they knew something was wrong...the camera shutter that you can hear in the nats audio is firing a lot faster than most amature cameras.

Interestingly, that's the DCH-4 Q-400...the big brother to the Dash-8...my company is supposed to get 18 of them brand new starting next month...any bets as to whether or not this is going to affect that?

hey they did it again!

methinks some mechanics are going to have some explaining to do
Horizon Air operates a big fleet of Q400's in the northwest. They are shutting down much of their schedule today to carry out inspections recommended by Bombardier resulting from these incidents.

BTW, I recently spoke with a Horizon captain. He says the short-body Dash 8's are sweet to fly, but the stretched Q400 is a pig.

Horizon canceled over 170 flights yesterday to inspect the landing gear on all of their Q400s. Bad day at Bombardier.
