Is the GTX 327 serial output sufficient to proved altitude data to a GPS or does this need to come directly from the encoder? I currently have a Narco AR850 encoder which doesn't have a serial interface. I was wondering whether it needs to be replace it with, something like a Trans Call with RS232 or will the GTX pass along the altitude from the Narco in serial format as the Trans Cal does?

My GTX327 feeds altitude out to my 430W using RS-232 OUT 1, pin 20.

Thanks Rob. Hope you are well. Btw, how do you like the 430 compared to the GX60? WAAS aside, is it much better?

I like the GNS series a lot. Two planes are 430W and the other is 430 (but will be gaining the W part early next year).

Graphics are obviously much nicer (and color) and there is a whole bunch of stuff it just "knows" if the datacards are up to date.

I don't know how fair the comparison is since I was pretty much a Direct To guy on the GX and now I've learned a lot more about the fancy "new" one. [Others will say the GNS isn't new]
