Hi All, the Garmin GTA 340 in my 172 XP had a strange turn today. We flew two legs with my co owner in P1, stopped for fuel and I swapped into the left seat, we both swapped our headphones around, I use Bose, he uses Sennheiser, both noise cancelling. When we started up the GTA 340 would power up when turned on with the L/H knob but after about 2 seconds would power down, no sound was heard through the headsets. Recycle the power knob, same thing. Any ideas/help gratefully received.

Are you meaning a GMA340 audio panel? Did you unplug both headsets and see if that makes a difference? I would recommend you find another plane with that in it and swap them and see if the problem follows the GMA340 or the plane. That’s where I would start.

Hi. Yes it is a GMA340 audio panel. What is interesting is that the safety “pass through” works, ie if the GMA is turned off com one can still receive/transmit as long as the radio is on. If the GMA is powered up, and then switches itself off the pass through function doesn’t work which makes me think there must be some power going through it to disable the pass through.

FYI, if your GMA340 is broken, GARMIN no longer repairs them. We are a bit different, when a repair is necessary, we repair almost everything we have ever built since 1985
The PMA8000G is a slide in replacement and would bring a very capable, easy to use, audio panel. PMA8000G
