Garmin GNX375 Simulator and equipment

It has been a number of years since I have been here, but I installed a Garmin 375 in my Cherokee. To understand it and learn how to use it I downloaded the simulator to my IPad. I spent over 1.5 hours trying to load a flight plan and couldn't get the dang thing to work. Does anybody have any suggestions on any training material on this? I spent an hour watching a youtube video and that did not help either.

Can you elaborate a little more on your difficulty? I have a GNX 375 in my Cherokee and routinely use the simulator to play with settings and scenarios. The PC sim is better, since it gives you a PFD/MFD as well as the GNX 375, so it's easier to understand and see the effect of what you're doing.

What difficulty are you having, exactly? I just booted up the iPad version, and from the main screen I just selected "Flight Plan" and was able to easily add whatever waypoints and approaches I wanted.

I fly out of a towered airport in Texas, I try to load the Departure Proceedure and build a flight plan but it doesn't recognize it. I will load the sim on my laptop and try that.

For HEF, I just add KHEF to the flight plan, click on it, and hit Load PROC. Under Departure I select the departure, runway, and transition, and then hit Load Departure. Seems to work fine.

Not sure what database the sim is using, so perhaps there's an issue there. Do you have a problem loading other departures or procedures?

KBAZ, and I tried KERV as well. I even tried to go to KFUL and load the procedures there as well (since that used to be my home airport) and had no luck. I know the database is based off of 2023, and have tried to figure out how to load a current database.

Okay, I fooled with it some more. I think the issue is that the database supplied with the simulator is apparently incomplete. If I try the airports you listed, the sim doesn't offer up anything. If I try KSAT or a similar larger airport, it works just fine.

As there isn't a way to update the database for the sim, I'd recommend that you just pick an airport that does have procedures (my own playing around shows that at least KSAT in your area has a full set) and just play with those for buttonology proficiency. You may not be able to load the specific procedures at KBAZ, but of course the buttonology would be exactly the same.
